Interests: Working on my house, playing basketball, Crossfit, grilling, reading, finding good local restaurants, watching Downton Abbey and of course spending time with Katie.

Fun fact about yourself: After almost a full day of cross-country skiing in the Tetons I became a crazy person, losing my mind and unable to function due to dehydration and altitude sickness. I was saved by a few superhuman acts of strength from my friends and a snow mobile. I was the first “rescue” of the season.

Favorite Books: Desiring God, This Momentary Marriage, Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ, The Gospel for Real Life, The Meaning of Marriage, DAWS and all of Piper’s Bios

Favorite Movies: Fellowship of the Ring, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 1 and 2, Gladiator, Braveheart, Warrior, The Prestige, Inception

Favorite Verse: John 12:24-26

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.”

Testimony: I grew up in south Texas thinking everyone was a Christian (including myself), some were just better than others. I believed in God but I didn’t know him or love him. I was at the center of my life; self absorbed and obsessed with being loved by people. I went to Coastal Carolina University in Myrtle Beach, SC on a search to find life through playing basketball. I didn’t make the team and for the first time in my life I felt like a failure. This began a search in my heart to find authentic joy, purpose and security. My dad was the first person to share the gospel with me through a letter he gave me along with a Bible when I left for college. I began to read that Bible the summer after my sophomore year and my heart changed. I couldn’t articulate the gospel at that point but I knew I needed a savior and that he was Jesus. I began to hate my sin and love the things of God and I started praying for the first time. I didn’t know any Christians and had no idea how to walk with God so I asked him to send someone to me to teach me how to do the Christian life. Then, I met Ben a few weeks into my Jr. year and the rest is history. Glory to God.

Favorite Verse: "But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." Jeremiah 17:7-8

Testimony: I grew up knowing very little about God, let alone what the gospel truly meant. It wasn't until college that God put a few women in my life that began to show me Jesus. Through their friendships, they helped me see that I am a great sinner, but Jesus is an even greater savior...and life is not lived to the full without Him. I began a relationship with Jesus during my freshman year, and by God's grace was discipled through Campus Outreach until I graduated in 2009. God gave me a burden to share Jesus with other college women just like myself, and He led me to live out that calling here in North Carolina.
